This day

This is the day, I feel, the earth did stand still. It seems for an hour and a half today our country and the world where montionless as Barack Obama became our 44th president.
It was a moment I have never experienced in my lifetime. It was a moment of collective unity.
Whatever the future hold for this country I know we have the leader that was meant to lead at this time.
God bless you Mr. President and God bless America.

Team of Rivals

Preview this book

Shortly after the election this year I had the opportunity to attend a lecture by Doris Kearns Goodwin. It was perfect timing as Mrs. Goodwin seemed to enjoy making the comparison of Pres. elect Obama to that of Abraham Lincoln as often as possible.
Mrs. Goodwin is a brilliant historian and eloquent speaker. She spoke for over an hour with little help from the few notes she brought with her.
She handled the Q & A's with such ease. She spoke about various Presidents as if they might just have been her next door neighbors.
I'm sure she is anticipating the next four (or eight) years with as much hope as we all are.

We are part of history

'Change has come to America'

Nov. 4: In his acceptance speech in Chicago's Grant Park, Sen. Barack Obama challenged the crowd of more than 125,000 people, saying, "if there's anybody out there who still questions... the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer."
