I'm so excited that I figured out how to upload this picture. This is my granddaughter with Governor Huntsman of Utah. She was asked to help date a bill for Spanish Language in schools there. She is in a Spanish immersion program at her school. Could she be any cuter ?
I am a little late with this blog. Two weeks ago GooGoo and I took the train (thanks Alex) into NYC to see Mama Mia. It was one of those beautiful New York days. The kind that you want if you are spending all that money to spend the day there. This trip was my birthday gift from GooGoo and family. And it was a great choice. We grabbed lunch in Grand Central Station. Not really a good idea. Sooooooo expensive. We then walked to the Wintergarden Theater just in time for curtain call. I really loved the play. I've wanted to see it since it first opened. You just can't beat Abba's music. And our seats were great. They should have a dance floor for the patrons because you just want to get up and dance through the whole play. After the play we took a cab to "Little Italy". We walked around like we just fell off the turnip truck!! We didn't know where to look for a good Italian restaurant. (Alex told us later we were two blocks off). So we took a cab back, hopped on the train and ate at Avenelo's in Ffld. And that was alot of fun. We really enjoyed our food. I really do LOVE New York!!! And tomorrow I am having a birthday dinner a GooGoo's. I can't wait to see the play tickets she will have for me then!!! Haha.
Last week I went to hear Lee Woodruff give a talk about her experience overcoming her husband Bob's devastating injury in Iraq. She is obviously a women of great strength and faith. Her talk had no signs of bitterness or hate in it. And she told some very sad stories of other wounded Iraq vets that she and Bob had met during is recovery. Bob was in a coma for 31 days and then suddenly regained consciousness. All the doctors agreed that this was somewhat of a miracle and not was they expected to happen. I suggest reading this book for it's uplifting message. At the end of Lee's talk, she took questions. A women asked "what lesson have your learned from your ordeal?" Lee's answer....."Leave the dishes in the sink". My philosophy for years!!!!
